history of acp
founded in 1977.

ACP was started in 1977 by Harold Dills, a native of North Carolina. He was introduced to the industry in 1958 by his father-in-law, and completed the apprenticeship program, winning the award for outstanding apprentice. He worked in all facets of the sheet metal industry for almost twenty years before starting this company. It has grown from a one-man operation in a small industrial park to a company employing more than 40 people, having completed projects in five states. The facility is a 21,000 square foot manufacturing plant, with more than 28,000 square feet of laydown area. ACP prides itself on its state-of-the-art technology, with two plasma cutters, a spiral pipe machine, an ovalizer and a five-foot coil line. For each specific job, duct is designed by a staff of draftsmen and project managers, using CAD systems. These designs are then used by skilled journeymen in fabricating duct. The fabrication process couples technologically-advanced equipment like the plasma cutters, computers, and the coil line with the craftsmanship of experienced journeymen.
